The Psychology Research Center (CIPsi) is the Research Unit of the School of Psychology of the University of Minho. Founded in 2001, CIPsi is currently one of the most productive research centers in the University of Minho, being consistently graded as “Excellent” by different evaluation panels. Over the last 10 years, CIPsi has occupied top positions both the national and international levels.

Scientific research at CIPsi is divided into Research Laboratories and Research Groups where faculty, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students (PhD, master's and bachelor's degrees) conduct high quality research. CIPsi's scientific research reflects the breadth of psychological science - from the most important study on animal and human cognition and on psychological neuroscience, to the most applied study on clinical, health, educational and developmental psychology. This extensive expertise, along with CIPsi's technical support and well-equipped laboratories, provide a unique environment for the development of interdisciplinary research.

CIPsi currently has more than 50 researchers and 100 doctoral students from 9 different countries. The center has more than 20 funded research projects in progress, which worth 4 million euros. CIPsi publishes more than 170 scientific papers on average per year, in major journals. 
 

CIPsi aims to promote the development and dissemination of high-quality scientific knowledge, increasing interactions between education and society, and extending its social responsibility.

This twofold objective can be achieved through two mechanisms that closely connect and enhance each other. On the one hand, the promotion of the production of scientific knowledge in psychology, allowing a deeper knowledge and understanding of the human behavior. On the other, the dissemination and transfer of such knowledge to the academia, the scientific community and the general society.
