Animal Learning and Behavior

Animal Learning

Researchers associated with the Animal Learning and Behavior research line study the broad topic of Animal Cognition, including the senses of time and number, and decision making. Specific research topics that excite us include the discrimination of time intervals, the perception of complex relations among events such as causality or correlation, and individual and collective decision making.

We often compare the performance of animals (mostly birds) with humans (children and adults) in carefully controlled laboratory situations or in semi-naturalistic settings. We also develop mathematical models in order to test our understanding of the dynamic properties of learning and behavior.
